Being Italian American is about our state of mind. It encompasses knowing and
appreciating our family's history, embracing our Italian-American values, and
feeling a sense of pride in who we are.
Aside from language and food, Italians brought with them a rich history and
understanding of art and culture.
Over the years, Cav. John Scarpati sensed the diminishing presence of the
Italian American culture. The environment in which he grew up was fading away
at a rapid pace. One day while discussing his concerns with a group of friends,
he was challenged to do something about it.
John decided to accept the challenge. In 2000, he put together a group of
individuals with the same ideology and formed the Mercer County Italian
American Festival Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, organized to
promote the encouragement of Italian American culture in today's society.
In the year 2020, the MCIAFA was proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary with
yet another successful Mercer County Italian American Festival which took place
at Mercer County Park.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, our future Festival plans had to
be put on hold temporarily.
Updates will be provided when available!
